Our Deck & Patio Demo Process

Outdoor demolition requires different considerations than interior work. Here's our approach.

1

Site Evaluation

We assess the structure's size, materials, attachment to the house (if any), and access for equipment. We'll also identify any utilities like gas lines, electrical, or irrigation.

2

Utility Location

Before breaking concrete or pulling posts, we call 811 to mark underground utilities. Safety first—we don't dig blind.

3

Systematic Teardown

For decks, we work from top to bottom: railings, decking, stairs, framing, then posts. For concrete, we use jackhammers or skid-steer mounted breakers to break up the slab.

4

Post & Footing Removal

We can remove deck posts and concrete footings for full site clearing, or cut posts flush with grade if you're building new in the same location.

5

Complete Clean-Up

All debris loaded and hauled away. We rake the area smooth, remove nails and hardware, and leave your yard clean and ready for landscaping or new construction.

Why Choose Do It All Demo for Outdoor Demolition?

Deck and patio demolition involves heavy materials, potential utility conflicts, and yard access challenges. We have the equipment and experience to handle it safely and efficiently.

Right Equipment

Jackhammers, concrete breakers, pry bars, reciprocating saws—we bring the right tools for the job, not rental equipment.

Utility Safety

We locate underground utilities before digging or breaking concrete. No surprises, no damaged gas lines or irrigation.

House Protection

Decks attached to homes require careful disconnection. We protect your siding, ledger board area, and foundation.

Same-Week Scheduling

Outdoor projects are weather-dependent, so we schedule strategically. Most deck demos complete in 1-2 days.

Deck & Patio Demolition FAQs

Common questions about outdoor demolition projects.

How long does deck demolition take?

Most residential decks (under 400 sq ft) are demolished in one day. Larger multi-level decks or those with extensive stairs may take two days.

Do you remove the posts and footings?

We can either cut posts flush with grade (standard) or dig out posts and concrete footings completely (additional charge). Full removal is recommended if you're not rebuilding in the same location.

How do you break up concrete patios?

We use jackhammers for smaller patios and skid-steer mounted hydraulic breakers for larger areas. The broken concrete is loaded into our trucks and hauled to a recycling facility.

What about the ledger board attached to my house?

We carefully remove the ledger board and flashing. The siding and band board behind it may need repair—we can recommend contractors if needed.

Can you work in a fenced backyard?

Yes, as long as we have gate access wide enough for wheelbarrows. For very large debris loads, we may need to temporarily remove fence sections.

Do you handle permits?

Demolition permits are typically the homeowner's responsibility. In most areas, removing a deck doesn't require a permit unless it's attached to a structure being modified.
